Sheet metal chassis/enclosure are often fabricated to act as a barrier for electrical equipment. Prototype sheet metal chassis can be plated, painted, powder coated and silk screened. 5052 Aluminum is ideal for sheet metal enclosures and parts because it can be bent to a smalradius.

To design an eclosure it's best first design a solid part ( a U shap) —» Extrude as wall —» Extrude on both sides (symmetric) of sketch plane by half the specified depth value in each direction —» Options —» Add inside bends on sharp edges (radius = sheet thickness x 2) —» Bend Allowance —» Select A feature specific set up by K fator (0.32). Next is adding a flange —»

Working Directory: Options —» Environment —» Working directory = select the working folder —» OK

To Define a Concentric Circle: For the center point, you must select a reference (centerline, plane, axis e.,g). For the second point, specify a radius.

To Dimension a Circle as a Diameter: In drafting, hold down the Alt key and double click the circle. To dimension a circle as a radius —» Annotate —» Dimension —» click the circle once.

Adding 2D CrossSection View: Deselect Datum Display Filters —» select the view to create the section view —» RMB to Insert Projection View —» Layout —» place the view —» select the projection view —» RMB to select Properties —» Section —» 2D cross-section —» click + —» (Planar/Single) Done —» type A for the name —» Enter —» Model Tree (select Front plane) —» OK —» with the section view selected —» RMB —» Add arrow —» select the parent view —» Create an Offset Cross-Section Views: select the section view —» Layout —» Drawing Models —» Set Model —» select Fixing Block (to activate the model) —» Done/Return.

Configure a Cross-Section View: select the right view —» RMB to select Properties —» Section —» 2D cross-section —» + —» select section A from the Name list —» scroll to the right to activate Arrow Display —» select the Top view (flip the material side to change the direction (up/down-left of -) —» OK.

Modifying Cross Hatching Display: Deselect Datum Display Filters —» Alt to select cross section view —» RMB to select Properties —» select Spacing —» Half —» Angle —» 45 —» Save —» type Custom 45 for the hatch name —» Enter —» Done.

Using Set References: A set datum plane, attached to a dimension, appears in a drawing only when you show the dimension to which it is associated. Reference datum planes do not display in a drawing unless they are perpendicular to the screen.

Datum Plane Placement in Model: Model —» Plane —» Placement —» select a surface/edge (to create datum A) —» select (Through) —» Properties —» Name (type A) —» OK —» Save —» in Model Tree —» select plane A —» RMB —» Properties —» select the A (datum shape format) —» Placement —» select On Datum —» OK —» Save

Create a Datum Axis in Model: Model —» Axis —»

Creating the Datum Centerlines in Cylindrical Model: Centerline marks should be used on all circles and holes —» turn on all reference planes —» select Axis —» Placement References (select Top plane, Ctrl to select Front plane) —» Display (checked Ajust outline —» Size —» Length (add 1" to default length) —» OK —» turn off all planes —» In Drawing file (select the view to show centerline) —» Annotate —» Show Model Annotations —» Show the model datum —» select the datum centerline to show —» OK.

Create the Datum Centerlines in Part: Select a Sketch in Model Tree where you needed a centerline —» RMC —» Edit definition —» in Datum Group tab —» select Centerline —» click First point + click Second point + MMC —» OK —» Save —» in Drawing —» select the view to show —» Annotate —» Show Model Annotation —» Show Model Annotations —» select the centerlines to show —» Apply —» Save.


The default value of the stacked_gtol_align detail option is no. However, to attach a geometric tolerance directly to other geometric tolerances, dimensions, or datums, it must belong to the same model as the item to which it is attached. You can specify a set datum plane or an axis as a reference for a geometric tolerance. Before you do so, you must set the datum plane or axis. You can also specify a set datum plane or an axis contained in an inheritance feature of a model as a reference for a geometric tolerance. To do so, select the set datum plane or the axis on the Model Tree or in the graphics window.

Not Able to Add Tolerance Block to Dimensions in Drawing: File —» Prepare —» Drawing Properties —» Detail Options —» select change —» in Options: type tol_display —» Find —» select tol_display —» Valle = yes —» Add/Change —» Apply —» Close —» Close —» in Drawing (double click a dimension) —» Tolerance mode is now available.

Attach a Geometric Tolerance to a Dimension in Part Mode: If a geometric tolerance is placed on a dimension in a part. In the drawing of that part, first show the dimension in the drawing using the Show Model Annotations option on the Dimension ribbon tab. Otherwise, the geometric tolerance is not displayed. If a geometric tolerance is attached to a part dimension and it doesn't display in an assembly drawing, it doesn't display the geometric tolerance either.

Inserting a Geometric Tolerance into a Drawing: Annotate —» Geometric Tolerance —» Model Refs: Placement —» Type —» select As Free Note —» Place gtol —» LMC next to a dimension where to place gtol note —» slect a GD&T feature (position) —» Datum refs: Primary —» select arrow/select Aa Datum from Model Tree —» Secondary —» select arrow/select B Datum from Model Tree —» Tertiary —» select arrow/select C Datum from Model Tree —» Tol value: checked Overall tolerance —» enter value —» Material Condition —» select RFS/M/MR/RFS —» Symbols: select the Diameter symbol —» Symbols (select) —» Project tolerance zone (specify as needed) —» Additional Text: (specify as needed) —» OK —» Save.


To Move a Table in Sheet Format: Open a drawing format (.frm) —» from the Drawing Tree —» select the table to be move —» Table tab —» select Move Special —» select a point (example: corner of the table) to move —» select move object to location defined as X and Y coordinates —» enter X & Y coordinates —» Enter —» OK to be continue
