PHNOM PENH (Khmer: ក្រុងចតុមុខសិរិមង្គល) IN 2018

The TRIP THAT WASN'T MEANT TO BE. Back in September of 2018 my brothers in Wichita, KS started planning a trip to Vietnam. I was invited but at that time I wasn't too eager to join because they didn't have a plan. I love to travel because I'm adventurous, I love meeting new people, seeing new places, and tasting new foods. But every time we talked about the trip the comments were don't worry there are many things we can do when we get there and don't bother planning because we just go and have fun. Brother planned to spend a whole month in VN, eat, sleep and hang out around Bui Vien. I planned to visit VN for a week then fly to Bangkok to see the famous shows then take the train to Chiang Mai & Phuket, then return to VN for a few days before the trip ended.

EvaAir and the messes. Purchased a ticket from EvaAir on Nov, 3rd, 2018 for Ho Chi Minh City on Dec, 7th, 2018, and the boarding pass I printed on Dec, 5th has a 23:25 boarding time on Dec 7th, 2018. It couldn't be any more complicated as EvaAir has it, the email confirmation shows the departure time/date as 00:05 Dec 7th, 2018, and the printed boarding pass shows the boarding time/date as 23:25 Dec 7th, 2018 instead of 12/6/2018. The mistake was the ticket purchased online from EvaAir a month ahead with an email confirmation, and the boarding pass printed from online check-in 2 days before Dec 7th. The additional cost, a new ticket $194 difference + $49 oversea flight canceled + $52 taxi pickup and drop off from both airports. How do I get to compensate for this since EvaiAir denied the error? The Citi Diamond Preferred MasterCard was used so I'm disputing the original $912 ticket through the bank and looking for an answer to the $295 additional. Saturday morning was stressful after spending hours trying to contact EvaAir, amazingly such an airline as EvaAir provided no customer service on weekend.

Saigon here we come. Arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport on Dec 10th, 2018 around 1:30 pm. It was cloudy and supposed to rain and the plan was to take another flight to Da Nang to join up the bro. Got a call from Tom while waiting at the local terminal, it's flooding and we're circling above the airport. I decided not to go to Da Nang but called a cab to go find a hotel somewhere near Bui Vien. Found Castella Hotel (70 Bùi Viện, Phường Phạm Ngũ Lão, Quận 1), checked in, take a shower and rest for the day. It was OK but noisy since it's at the center of Bui Vien so I moved to Sai Gon Au Chau Hotel the next day, but Saigon Citi Hotel (264 Đường Đề Thám, Phường Phạm Ngũ Lão, Quận 1) was a little closer to the underground foodcourt Taka Plaza and next to Highland Cafe where we often hang out when in Saigon.

Phnom Penh was founded in 1434 to succeed Angkor Thom as the capital of the Khmer nation but was abandoned several times before being reestablished in 1865 by King Norodom. The city formerly functioned as a processing center, with textiles, pharmaceuticals, machine manufacturing, and rice milling.

Phnom Penh is located in the south-central region of Cambodia and is fully surrounded by the Kandal Province. The municipality is situated on the banks of the Tonlé Sap, Mekong, and Bassac rivers. These rivers provide freshwater and other natural resources to the city. Phnom Penh the biggest city in Cambodia and also its wealthiest is the cultural, commercial, and political centee of the country and is home to more than one million of Cambodia's population of over 14 million. The city offers extensive cultural and historical attractions, including temples, museums, and the Royal Palace, and also has accommodation from simple guesthouses to five-star hotels. Besides the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, the National Museum, the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the Choeng Ek Killing Fields, and Wat Phnom, there are several market places selling carvings, paintings, silk, silver, gems, and even antiques.

Phnom Penh also features good dining facilities as well as a vibrant and varied nightlife. The country has a tropical climate - warm and humid. In the monsoon season, abundant rain allows for the cultivation of a wide variety of crops. This year-round tropical climate makes Cambodia ideal for developing tourism. Cambodia can be visited throughout the year. However, those plans to travel extensively by road should be avoided during the last two months of the rainy season when some countryside roads may be impassable. The average temperature is about 27 degrees Celsius; the minimum temperature is about 16 degrees. December and January are the coolest months, whereas the hottest is April.
